Great advice about staying safe on your paddle board 👍Have you recently purchased a new stand-up #paddleboard (SUP)? Or maybe you’re a regular paddler? 🌊 Whatever your experience, if you’re heading out paddling this #bankholidayweekend, follow our 'SUP'er safety tips: ✅ Take a fully charged phone in a waterproof pouch 📱✅ Buddy up - go with someone else if you can 👭✅ Or tell someone where you're going/when you'll be back✅ Check weather and tides. If in doubt, don’t go out ☂️✅ Always wear a Personal Flotation Device and leash 🌊Make sure you can reach your phone so you can call for our help if you need it - even the most experienced can get caught out. #999Coastguard🚨 Remember, in an emergency at the coast, call 999 and ask for the Coastguard. 🚨Visit the following link for further safety tips from our friends at the RNLI: bit.ly/3vqBET2Go PaddlingBritish Stand Up Paddle Association RNLI British Canoeing#Paddleboarding #SUP #Paddle #Safety #BeCoastSafe #BeWaterAware #RespectTheWater #StandUpPaddleboarding ... An important safety message #BeWaterAwarePhoto credit: Kieran SherlockWe are asking people to avoid using West Kirby Marine Lake for open water swimming as it’s not safe now that water sports have restarted following the Government’s COVID-19 roadmap update.Swimming isn’t actually allowed at the Marine Lake however, during the last year when lockdowns limited access to other leisure activities and the Marine Lake wasn’t in use as usual, some swimmers made the most of the opportunity to enjoy the water while it was quiet. Unfortunately, now that sports such as windsurfing are happening again, it’s just not safe to swim at the same time. Our leisure team are looking into the possibility of holding dedicated swimming sessions, we will share any updates on this as soon as we know more. For more information on sessions that are available at West Kirby Marine Lake for licensed users, please visit the Wirral Leisure website wirralleisure.co.uk/ ... See MoreSee Less

We'd like say a big thank you to the 60 windsurfers of "Wind West Kirby" social media group who have very generously funded an upgrade to the sailing centre weather station. This means that you can now check the wind strength and direction at any time by following the link below; ideal if you're travelling any distance to use the lake. Thanks to all who contributed and a special mention to Phil Knight for technical input and Alan Cross for collecting donations. Any money left over will be donated to the West Kirby Warriors T15 youth windsurfing club 😀🤙Photo credit: Iain Woodsideskylink-pro.com/remote-index.php?domainname=wirralsailingcentre&keyword=sailing&units=kt ... A busy, breezy Easter weekend on the water; brilliant to see so many licence holders back in action! We'd like to apologise to anyone who had difficulty in contacting the centre by phone over the weekend; we've experienced some IT issues and are also finding our feet with the new till system. Thanks for some helpful suggestions and for your patience too!Photo credit: Simon Moore ... See MoreSee Less
